Urban League Celebrates Red Nose Day With Summer Camp Orientation

FORT LAUDERDALE – May 19, 2015 – On the national May 21 Red Nose Day, the Urban League of Broward County will host our summer camp orientation – exactly the kind of programming that the Red Nose Day is set to support.

The Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh. Anyone can participate by buying a red nose for $1 at any Walgreens store and wearing it on May 21 to raise awareness about the hardships associated with poverty.

The orientation for Urban League of Broward County’s Summer Enrichment Program is symbolically set up on the same day as Red Nose Day.

“Our camp offers eligible low-income students the opportunity to create, discover and learn through a variety of activities – and that’s the kind of program the Red Nose Day is designed to raise money and awareness for,” said Dr. Germaine Smith-Baugh, president and CEO of the Urban League of Broward County.

During the orientation for the Summer Enrichment Program, Urban League of Broward County staff and volunteers, as well as parents and youth, will wear red noses to join in the day’s fun.
