Urban League of Broward County Marks 50-Year Milestone with Surge of Multiyear Investments and Launch of New Sustainability Campaign
Fort Lauderdale, FL. May 1, 2026 — As the Urban League of Broward County approaches the close of its 50th anniversary fiscal year, the organization is celebrating a powerful show of support from both new and longstanding partners who are deepening their commitment to its mission through increased and multiyear investments.
Leading this momentum, JM Family Enterprises has pledged a transformative $500,000 investment over the next three years underscoring growing confidence in the organization’s impact and future direction.
For more than 25 years, JM Family Enterprises has been honored to stand alongside the Urban League of Broward County in advancing opportunities across our community,” said Dan Chait, president and CEO of JM Family Enterprises. “This multiyear investment reflects our shared commitment to education, economic empowerment and long-term stability for South Florida families. It's a continuation of the values our founder Jim Moran championed which still guide how we show up for the communities in which we live and work.
Additional multiyear commitments from Sunshine Health, PMI – USA, Miami Dolphins, and Community Capital Management bringing the total of newly secured long-term investments to more than $1.5 million. These contributions represent a collective investment in sustained, community-centered change.
At the same time, several major financial institutions have expanded their support through increased giving, including TD Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Capital One, and JPMorgan Chase.
“This moment is more than a milestone, it’s a signal,” said Dr. Germaine Smith-Baugh, president and CEO of Urban League of Broward County “Our partners are not only celebrating where we’ve been but investing in where we’re going. Their support positions us to build a more sustainable future and expand the depth of our impact.”
This wave of investment marks the launch of the organization’s newest campaign, The Next 50: Building the Future of Opportunity, Innovation, and Impact—a forward-looking initiative centered on long-term sustainability. The campaign will prioritize expanding earned revenue strategies, advancing housing development efforts, and introducing innovative giving programs to ensure enduring support for generations to come.
For five decades, the Urban League has remained committed to advancing social and economic opportunity through its core programmatic pillars: education, entrepreneurship, jobs, justice, housing, and health. Today, the organization serves more than 14,000 individuals annually, equipping communities with the tools and resources needed to thrive.
As the organization enters its next chapter, this renewed and expanded investment signals a shared vision among partners, one that is rooted in impact, sustainability, and collective progress.
