Summer Internship Program

Designed for high-achieving undergraduate and graduate students, Urban League of Broward County (ULBC)’s Summer Internship Program (SIP) offers accepted applicants the opportunity to experience first-hand the workings of a major not-for-profit organization.  ULBC invites a select group of students each year to participate in a 10 week immersion into the world of a major not-for-profit as they learn about and participate in programmatic and strategic initiatives that are central to the organization’s success.  In areas ranging from human resources to strategic planning, and from program development to marketing strategy, Urban League invites the best and the brightest to come, not merely to observe, but to join us as active and trusted members of our team as we address the educational, job, housing and health needs of the community.

Internship Program Framework

Urban League of Broward County’s Summer Internship Program (SIP) is a 10-week immersive unpaid internship program placing undergraduate and graduate students in placements working alongside program and administrative staff throughout the organization. In its first year, the SIP will provide up to 12 students. Interns will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that advance their department’s work to better serve disenfranchised communities.

Projects may include:

  • Learn about program evaluation and software, inputting data, drafting reports, and develop recommendations for effective data collection and evaluation;
  • Get behind-the-scene experience on planning a fundraiser or special event;
  • Support the fiscal year-end financial close-out and assist in the preparation of the annual audit;
  • Work with case managers and coaches to provide the programs and services to our customers;

 Learn how the Urban League employs its human capital and research talent management best practices to inform our human resources department;

These are just some of the potential projects that an intern may be able to participate in, depending on his/her education, experience, skills and on the needs of the various departments. Please review  the individual internship descriptions for more information.

College CreditPlease talk to your student advisor or department to learn if credit is available for participating in the SIP. The Urban League will be happy to assist as much as possible.
