About YPN

The Urban League of Broward County Young Professionals Network is one of over 100 chapters affiliated with the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) that seeks to support its local affiliate.

NULYP today is a constantly evolving movement. We stand at the crossroads of change, beneficiaries of centuries of struggle, a generation of young adults who are more privileged than any before our time. Our vision for the future is powerful, our commitment to community is unwavering. The diversity, breadth and depth of our skills, talents and abilities makes us uniquely qualified to craft a new vision of the civil rights movement for our generation.

We are equipped, we are committed, we are passionate. In communities across our nation, members of the National Urban League's Young Professionals are Empowering Communities and Changing Lives.

We support the goals and mission of the Urban League of Broward County by serving our community and developing our members through mentoring and youth activities, political engagement, and professional development programs. Our chapters implement local programs in support of the National Urban League’s 5-point empowerment agenda, which include:

  • Education and Youth Empowerment
  • Economic Empowerment
  • Health and Quality of Life
  • Civic Engagement and Leadership Empowerment
  • Civil Rights and Racial Injustice Empowerment

The Young Professionals Network of the Urban League of Broward County, Inc. was established on February 1, 2007 by a steering committee of young professionals who had been working diligently since the summer of 2006. The organization is currently almost 100 members strong in only 1 year. 

VISION: To be the Training Ground for young leaders and to promote the Urban League as an authority on issues affecting Broward County’s urban communities.

MISSION: We exist to cultivate a new generation of young professionals to take an active role in serving and empowering Broward County’s urban communities.
