Sherly faces hard choices every day, however for $10-the cost of lunch, a needy young person like Sherly can get help.
 
Sherly decides to get a good night's sleep in a safe and secure place.  She rides one bus and transfers to another and then walks about a mile to her brother's new apartment.  However, she quickly learns that she will not be able to spend the night due to special stipulations in his apartment contract.  But before she leaves, he tells her of an appointment he scheduled for her the next day.
 
She leaves her brother's apartment, excited about her appointment the next day, but still having to find a suitable place to sleep for the night.  She ponders this as she walks down the dark city blocks. Then she sees a car and decides, "Just for tonight."  
 
Your choice to give can make a difference for young men and woman not for just the night, but throughout their lives.  Grant them positive, alternative ways to support themselves and their families.

Before falling asleep, Sherly dreams of possibilities and recalls what her brother told her.  According to him, the next day she has an appointment with a case manager at the Urban League of Broward County.  Before drifting off to a much needed rest, she wonders if this appointment will be her savior.  Maybe the Urban League can help her get a GED, job and a start on a better life.  They helped her brother start over and she desperately hopes they can help her too.

That was Sherly one year ago.  Today, Sherly is employed, has a room she shares with her son and is studying for her GED exam.   She is one of many young people served by the Urban League of Broward County. UPDATE:  Sheryl has taken the GED exam and is awaiting her results!
